Westminster Kennel Club

It’s already time to get ready for The 2008 Westminster Kennel Club Show. Wow, time is really flying. Having been founded not long after the 1969 Westminster Kennel Club Show, Cherrybrook’s first appearance at Westminster was in 1970. We have been at Westminster every year since then, making this year our 38th consecutive year serving the exhibitors, handlers and spectators of The Westminster Kennel Club.

Cherrybrook has always been the largest distributor of dog supplies at The Westminster Kennel Club Show. Cherrybrook now sells Show Dog, Grooming and Pet Supplies to all types of customers all over the world. Cherrybrook is welcomed at Westminster by dog enthusiasts from all over the United States and in fact all over the world. There are even several charter flights from Japan, which bring hundreds of Japanese enthusiasts to the show every year, many of whom stop by the Cherrybrook booth.

Cherrybrook’s involvement with the Westminster Kennel Club is of course something that makes us enormously proud. This show, like no other, allows us to work with and meet our customers from all over the world. However, at the same time it is one of our largest and most challenging shows to prepare for and support our customers. After 14 hours a day on our feet, the show crew certainly needs a rest. Our planning for this show begins during the already busy Holiday season, and the logistics of preparing for the show are focused on up until show time.

The Cherrybrook presence at the Westminster Kennel Club is anticipated by breeders, owners, and handlers as they begin their preparations. In fact, there are always a large number of pre-orders that we receive prior to the show.

We look forward to seeing all of you at the 2008 Westminster Kennel Club show and throughout the rest of the year!

Roy,
Will you have bench chains available for purchase AT the show? I wasn't able to locate them on your website.

TIA

Susan,

I am not sure what you mean by bench chains. We will certainly have bungee cords that could be used to secure crates and we'll have bolt snaps as well. Please clarify what you are looking for and we'll see what we can do. Alternatively, you can call customer service at 800-524-0820 and they can help you.

Thanks,

Roy

Hi Roy,

They are the chains that have clips on both ends ... one for the dog's collar and the other for the ring in the BENCH there at Westminster, should you want to have your dog out (not in a crate)
on display.

I haven't been able to find one on your website.

Susan,

We have just heard about this product, so we do not have it yet. As you know there are very few bench shows, and we only have two per year. We won't be able to get this product in time for Westminster, but we do have some leashes and other options that we could review at the show. Please stop by and see me.

I am happy to hear that you will be at the Garden this year even though I will be watching from home. I hope that you observe what "professional handlers" really use to confine dogs when they are traveling to shows--because they do not use the soft sided crates that your site claims they use. Handlers who are showing often 10-15 dogs at a show cannot use soft crates for stacking, for airline travel. Soft crates are actually dangerous for confinement of a dog at a show as escape or injury is so common. Please advise your vendors of the reality of the dog show and encourage them to provide you with a variety of safe-airline approved crates that can be used for shipping dogs to shows as well as confining them once at the show in a safe, clean way. Sometimes vendors like to pick up with the newest craze of new dog owners without considering the utility of the airline safe crate. Time to return to the 100, 200, 300 etc. size Vari Kennels with latches that do not open easily at airports and cause yet another Westminster Dog to disappear on the tarmack after the show and never be found again.
